Main body 98% finished.

As the title says, I now have the main body shell mostly finished. So far it is turning out as planned, the yellow does not look perfect so that makes it perfect lol.

If a plate looks like it was part of the original construction I painted it yellow, but if it looks like it was added as a repair at a later date I tried to make it look like it was just cut out and stuck on. I tried to make the bare metal look weathered with rust stain  lines and though it turned out ok I think a little more refinement and I'll love it. Well enough talk, on to the pics.

Now some detail shots,

Well, thats it for now. I just need to finish up a few tidbits and then I will start on the wheels and tracks.

Getting the yellow sorted out.

A small update, I have the yellow pretty much sorted out. I was trying something different here, usually I go for a clean, neat, and sanitary style. On this wagon I am going for a well worn and abused yellow, like it was painted years ago and has been getting abused every since. Besides I don't picture Orks as particularly careful painters, I kind of picture them spreading the paint around with a mop.
In the finial picture just the yellow is done, but it has not been fully dirtied, scuffed, and detailed yet.

I forgot to take a picture of it under just base coat so you will just have to image it painted tan. lol

Here it is with a nice coat of Iyanden Darksun over the base coat.

Next up came a good coat of Sunburst Yellow.

Followed that up with a wash of Devlen Mud.

Then another light coat of Sunburst Yellow.
I still need to add the final yellow highlight of Bad Moon Yellow, but it will have to wait until after the scuffs and bangs are added.
Thanks again for looking, comments and advice is always welcomed.

The start of the Battle Wagon, or Moble WAAAGH!!

Over a year ago I traded for this Battle Wagon kit and it sat on the shelf ever since. Now the time has come to build it. It will be finished in the yellow of the Bad Moon clan and is mostly box stock with the addition of the GW Battle Wagon upgrade sprue a couple of bits I had laying around. As of right now I just have it loosely assembled as it is easier to paint in sections. The only really big change was to keep the dozer blade/armor plate on the front and have the Deff Roller as well. Not much else to say other than here is some pics of it before it is tore down and the painting begins.

Here are some all over shots of the wagon.

Now some detail shots.

The cheeky little Grot Rigger

The turret.

A Nob enjoying the view and yes I know he has no head. ;)

The Zapp Gun.

The tank commander.

Thats it for now, but another update will be soon, hopefully.

Start of my Bad Moon Orks

Well the time has come for me to start a blog to follow my painting. My wife has a 40K Ork army that is over 6500 points and while accumulating that we have about another 2000 points that are unpainted. Since I have always loved the Bad Moon Ork Clan I decided to paint these ones up like them. That way they can be a separate Ork army and can intermingle with the others to make a huge WAAAGH!!! Also I have wanted to try a new method of painting Yellow and I have a new Green recipe I want to try.

To start with I painted up a test model, an Ork Nob I got in a issue of White Dwarf when the Black Reach box set came out. The model is completely box stock without any conversion work. The yellow turned out good, but I think a darker base coat would give me the look I want. The yellow is a base of Iyanden Darksun, Sunburst Yellow, Devlen Mud wash, Sunburst Yellow, Yellow ink, and a light edge of Bad Moon Yellow. The green on the other hand turned out just as I had hoped, it is a base coat of Iyanden Darksun with multiple layers of green wash in varying degrees.

Now on to the pics of my test model.

Next update will feature the Battle Wagon I just started.
